Here is a picture of Lindsey Stirling, where you might notice she is actually using the chin rest, propping the violin against her shoulder so that more of the violin is on front of her shoulder than behind it, and she is holding the bow correctly with her hand in proper position and the bow angled on the other side as it should be. You can spot the differences to the dA picture yourself. musicrowgirl.files.wordpress.c…
crossxxxroads, I know full well who Lindsey Stirling is and no, she does not play holding her bow or her violin like portrayed in the picture. I have played violin for 20 years and it is impossible to play violin while holding it in a manner that the violinist in the picture holds it. Maybe you should learn more about playing the violin than just watching a video or two before you leave snarky comments to people who actually know something about the subject.
This looks nice at first glance, but as a violinist I have to let you know no one could play violin with that kind of bow holding. Also the violin has a chin rest for a reason, and her chin is nowhere near it. The violin is also way too far on her shoulder and the bow looks way too big and weird, and the bow is way too far up the strings. I'm sorry, but I really wish people would do their research when depicting something they have no knowledge of.
Otherwise the pic is very nice, I just wish it would portray violin playing realistically and not in a manner that just seems to show off the player's boobs and her figure. Violins are not just decorations.
